THE FAILURES OF MODI GOVERNMENT
Before 2014, Mr. Manmohan Singh was the Prime Minister of India. People used troll him by calling him ‘The Silent PM’. In 2014 Loksabha elections , Mr. Narendra Modi was the PM candidate of BJP. Modi attacked on this weakness of Manmohan Singh.
In his election campaign, Modi’s energetic speeches and his enthusiasm impressed the voters all across the country. He made several promises. BJP won the elections and Mr. Modi took the oath as 14th PM of India.
Mr. Modi launched various programs. He launched BHIM, MAKE IN INDIA, GANGA SWACHHTA ABHIYAN, BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO, etc. Many of these programs have not succeeded as was expected. In 2014, Rs 20,000 crore was allotted by PM to GANGA SWACHHTA ABHIYAN and he promised that it will get cleaned till 2019. But we all know the current condition of the river Ganga.(source:google). No one has any record where did the money go. In ‘BETI BACHAO BETI PADHAO’, the 56% of the fund allotted was spent by the govt. just on its publicity, and over 19% of it has no record of where did it go.(source:bloombergquint.com).
Indian govt. spends a very small percentage(1.5%) of its GDP on HealthCare which is globally the lowest. India ranks very low(131 out of 188) in World Education Index. Just before 2019 elections, Mr. Modi exempted them whose income was Rs 5 lakh per annum from paying tax. This ‘pre-election giveaway’ by govt. dropped the no. of taxpayers from 6 crore to 1.5 crore only.(source:ThePrint). In 2018, india ranked 147th in World Inequality Index. Modi Govt. has not taken any specific action in this field. According to Global Hunger Index, India lies at 102nd position. Pakistan and Nepal are far more better than us in feeding their citizens. In Modi’s period, India dropped to 140th position in World Press Freedom Index. India was also named as world’s most unsafe place for women in 2018.(source:justgoogleit)
So, Modi Govt. has failed in providing a better future to the country.
